General Concept of the Spiritual Center Idea During the World Youth Day, certain Churches in Cologne, Bonn, and Düsseldorf will be used as a so called “Spiritual Center”. In Cologne, specifically the Romanesque Churches found in the inner city, as well as the churches of the Patrons of World Youth Day will be used. The Spiritual Center is a net of “sacred spaces” in which young people can experience various forms of different spiritual practices. This is because of the theme “We have come to worship HIM” and to highlight the encounter with Christ suitably, using a concretely formed spiritual program with a decidedly contemplative focus. These Churches may be visited throughout the day, and many of them are opened 24 hours. The times of featured programs are organized around the program structure and main events of World Youth Day.
